Emotional and spiritual wellbeing

 
Each of us is a complex being, an integration of mind, body, emotion and soul. While our institutions work hard to develop our minds and intellect, and the medical and health folk bring us a myriad of ways to heal our bodies and build our physical fitness there has been less emphasis on growing our emotional intelligence and wellbeing. Yet if we want to be well balanced individuals we need to understand this aspect of ourselves and utilise the knowledge for our wellbeing, relationships, our whole of life experience.

Unfortunately western society doesn't fully support emotional life. This has meant that when we have experienced stressful events we may not have been able to fully process our feelings, leading to the creation of what we affectionately call  'emotional baggage'. When this happens a disruption in our energy system is created. There comes a time in everyone's life however when this 'baggage' comes up for healing. This can be stressful, confusing and often painful. Knowing how to attend to this so that healing can take place is an act of love for ourselves. Importantly, at an energetic level, healing creates space for new things to come into your life.

The more we explore our feelings the more we come to realise the power that they hold. Feelings are the language of the soul, a way of receiving intuitive messages that allow us to make life choices that are right for us. It helps us move away from making decisions that reflect other people's expectations, towards what is good for us personally, and ultimately, everyone else in our life. Understanding and listening to our feelings provides us with a powerful set of tools giving us guidance along the way and feedback about the action we take. And so emotional wellbeing isn't just about healing old wounds and working through the hard stuff! It's also about creating a life that works for us.

As we work more closely with our feelings we come closer to the workings of our soul, our spiritual self. There is the opportunity to open to new aspects of ourselves beyond the mind and ego. As we open to the nudging of our soul we come to discover there is a whole new world for us to explore; our inner world. Here we learn that we can perceive the world through our heart as well as our mind. We connect more deeply with love and gratitude and we start to see ourselves as the kind of person we always wanted to be. Somewhere along the way we may have an experience that takes us beyond our previously known boundaries. We may call this a mystical or psychic experience. Many call it an awakening and such experiences are becoming more and more common. Sometimes these experiences can feel like a bolt of lightening out of the blue and can leave us feeling confused and fearful. Getting support at such times is important.
